Hey everyone, it's been a while! I don't remember the last time I wrote all of you but all is well! I am still here in Concepcion with Elder Avery, we are just about to finish our second transfer together and sadly Elder Avery will be leaving in about a week and a half. We have had lots going on, lots of laughs, lots of adversity, but also times of lots of success. I've learned a lot in this last little bit of my mission, things that I will take with me forever. As we have been trying to get people to go to church and help them understand the need we have focused on three reasons why going to church every week is so darn important. The first reason is that it is a commandment of God. God gives us commandments so that we can understand his will. Going to church is the way that we have every week to be able to renew ourselves, renew our covenants and just be a happier people as those described in the book of Jarom. Keeping the commandments should always be one of the principal reasons we do anything!
The second reason is the sacrament. Sacrament meeting is the most important meeting of our week. Jesus teaches in Matthew 26 that as we remember him and take the sacrament we receive a remission of our sins. Elder Bednar teaches that the act of taking the sacrament is not necessarily what cleans us, but the preparation. Every week we should prepare to take the sacrament to make each and every Sunday significant.
The third reason why we need to go to church are the blessings that we receive. with each of God's commandments comes a promise for obeying it. Blessings of "Receiving all that we ask for blessings of "peace in this life and in the life to come", even blessings of becoming "exceedingly rich." Any blessing that we could possibly want comes from obeying the commandments. I don't know if there is any single thing we can do every week to receive more blessings than going to church. JUST DO IT!
Love you all and hope you have a great week,
