Tucuman
Hows everyone doing?? Yes I promise I am still alive! I don't remember the last time I wrote but I'm back in Tucuman, the best province in the world. My comp is Elder Odar, from PerĂº! I've been training him so it's been so fun to see him grow as a missionary. When he first got here he didn't want to talk to anyone, now its hard to get to appointments on time because he talks to everyone, hahah its been so fun and I've learned a ton.
This week we´ve had a couple cool experiences with the people we are teaching, one of them is named Valentina. She is 18 years old, and super super shy. We have been teaching her sister for a couple of weeks and we found her through her sister. Her whole life she went to the catholic church, but about 3 years ago her family had a couple of tragic things happen and she stopped going to church, and stopped believing in God. We have been teaching her for 2 weeks but she still hadn't come to church, hadn't said a prayed and still didn't believe in God. We decided to start teaching her some of the commandments so that she could truly see that God is there and blesses us when we do what he has asked. We promised her that reading the Book of Mormon would help her in school, and it did! We promised that praying would give her comfort in her times of need, and it did! This week we taught the importance of keeping the sabbath day holy. We felt prompted to promise her pure joy, not the "happiness" that the world brings, but the kind of joy that only our Father in heaven can give. Yesterday she came to church for the first time. When I asked her how she felt, she started crying and said there was no better feeling in the world. My comp and I were able to testify of the Holy Ghost and promise her that through baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost, she can feel like that always. Valentina accepted a baptism date for the 27th of July!!
We have been blessed with an awesome ward who is helping us a ton! I know this is the Church of Jesus Christ and through it, we can find peace, love, and joy.
Love,
Elder Henderson
